NATIVE PORTABILITY

Share it raw.
Read it anywhere.

Keep a copy. Send it to your coach. Analyse it in your preferred tool. Export FIT, CSV and Kubios-ready RR, with intervals where your sensor supplies them.

Ask your own assistant about your record. Share a Markdown dossier or connect your exported folder through MCP. Optional, always: a cloud assistant receives the data you share with it.

SELF-CUSTODY

Physically.
Permanently. Yours.

Your Loop talks to your iPhone. Your recordings live there as files you can export and read outside ampulse. No ampulse account. No health-data server of ours.

You choose when the record leaves your phone. Optional folder sync and assistant access are explained below, with each destination named.

HARDWARE

What each device unlocks.

Match the hardware to what you want recorded — and read the limits before you buy.

Compatible Bluetooth RR straps

Training sessions and RR-based HRV and DFA α1 where signal quality allows, with received intervals kept on file.

Polar H10 · Garmin HRM-Dual, HRM-Pro, HRM-Fit, HRM 600 · CooSpo H6, H808S · Wahoo TICKR — requires RR intervals over the standard Bluetooth Heart Rate service.

Polar H10

All of the above, plus a resting ECG trace you can record and export.

Polar Loop

Nights and days: sleep stages, whole-night HRV, resting pulse, breathing, skin temperature.

Direct setup and sync in ampulse, without a Polar Flow account. Firmware updates are available in the app and require an internet connection to Polar’s firmware service.

Concept2 PM5

Rowing and ski splits, stroke rate, distance — read natively, no adapter.

FTMS gym machines

Power, pace and distance from treadmills, bikes, rowers and cross-trainers — and target control where the machine allows it.

FIT files

Sessions imported from any watch or platform that exports FIT, with beat intervals where the file carries them.

Other wearables, via Apple Health

Import nights written to Apple Health by a watch, ring or sleep app. Sleep times, stages and summary figures depend on what the source writes and what you allow ampulse to read. No Loop is required.

Health-imported nights contain the available stages and summaries, not the Loop’s pulse-interval record. Source labels distinguish imported values from ampulse’s own interval-based calculations.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Before you ask.

What exactly does ampulse record?

Three things: full nights from the Polar Loop — HRV in five-minute windows, each gated by signal quality; quiet daytime windows when you are still; and training sessions with live heart rate, power and DFA α1. Sensor-provided intervals are kept on file, with quality information where the device supplies it. Nights can also be imported through Apple Health without a Loop.

What do HRV and the live thresholds tell me?

HRV describes variation between beat intervals. For Loop nights, ampulse calculates it in five-minute windows that pass its quality checks. Daytime analysis selects quiet windows using movement and quality flags. During training, a compatible RR strap enables DFA α1, a measure of patterns in those intervals. Its 0.75 and 0.50 markers help estimate intensity thresholds; they are not a laboratory measurement. Sensor artifacts can still affect results. Health-imported HRV is shown as the statistic the source supplies.

Which hardware do I need?

A Polar Loop provides the direct night and day record; Apple Health can supply imported nights. Training uses compatible Bluetooth straps that send RR intervals — Polar H10, Garmin HRM-Dual, HRM-Pro, HRM-Fit or HRM 600, CooSpo H6 or H808S, Wahoo TICKR. Concept2 PM5 and FTMS gym machines connect for power and pace. Details per model on the support page.

Can it replace Polar Flow?

ampulse supports direct Loop setup, sync and recording without a Polar Flow account. Completed nights appear after a successful sync. Firmware updates are available in the app and need internet access to Polar’s firmware service.

Do I need an account?

No ampulse account is needed. The Loop connects directly over Bluetooth. Purchases use your Apple ID; optional services such as iCloud, Strava or a cloud assistant use their own accounts.

Where does my data live?

Recordings start as files on your iPhone. You can export them yourself or link a folder that ampulse keeps current automatically. An iCloud Drive folder syncs through Apple. If you share files or use MCP with a cloud assistant, that provider receives the shared data. See the privacy policy for the connected features and deletion details.

What does it cost?
